Florida Gulf Coast could be trading one Oklahoman for another.
Oklahoma assistant coach Steve Henson is on the shortlist to become the next Florida Gulf Coast head coach a source confirmed to The Oklahoman.
The Eagles were formerly coach by Andy Enfield, husband to model Amanda Marcum-Enfield, a Mustang, Oklahoma native. The Eagles are now in search of a head coach.
Enfield left last month for a job at USC after he took the Eagles to the Sweet 16, where FGCU lost to Florida.
Henson is being considered along with FGCU assistant Marty Richter, Kansas assistant Joe Dooley, and Ohio State assistant Chris Jent, according to ESPN.com.
Henson and Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger share a relationship that dates back 25 years to when Henson was a member of one of the Kansas State squads that Kruger coached. Then he worked with Kruger at Illinois, UNLV, and in the pros with the Atlanta Hawks.
